How to Replace Your RV Air Conditioner Shroud

All RV owners will most likely have come across this problem at least once in their lives your getting the RV ready for your camping trip and giving everything a good once over you hop up onto the roof only to find that the A/C shroud is either broken or badly damaged. If you have enough time you could probably take it apart and make some repairs to the damaged areas but if its gone past repair and you need to replace it where will you start looking first. You know it's a problem you cannot ignore left unattended to it will cause a lot of damage to your air-conditioning unit and that will become very costly.

For those that have gone beyond the repair stage there's only one answer it has to be replaced. So, where do you look? You could try going through your local paper and see if you could get lucky or maybe you still have the original owners manual if it does have a listing of spare parts you may find a serial number in there which you could then use to call the manufacturers and see if they carry it in stock the problem here could be that if you're the owner of an older model RV they may no longer make your models shroud. The simple answer is the Internet there are a lot of websites that you can check through to see if you could get an exact replacement if you can't find an exact replica you are sure to find a supplier that has a shroud that will fit. There are a few things you will need to do before you place an order though.

The first thing you will need to do before you make any order is to get the exact measurements of your existing unit. You will have to write down the length, the width and the depth of the unit so your sure to get a proper fit. Do not try to guess them, if you try this you could guess to small or to large and not only lose time having to send it back but you'll lose money as well there's shipping charges to think about as well. So do yourself a favor and get the measurements right and don't forget about the gap between the bolt holes.

The Internet is great for finding all sorts of spare parts for RVs and there is sure to be a supplier that can sort you out with either an exact replacement if not they will carry a unit that will fit your vehicle. There you can find replacements for any models of RV no matter what age. Just be sure of your measurements. Because the Internet has so much choice its always a good idea to shop around a bit before you settle on any dealer this way you could find yourself with a nice deal that saves you money.

An air conditioning shroud will probably cost you around $150 that's a lot less than you would have to pay if you ignore the problem and your air con unit gets damaged.
