Central Air Conditioner Prices - Tune Up to Keep Costs Down

Obvious as it is, the expenses/costs that goes into buying a central air conditioner does not stop with the central air conditioner prices. Eventually, you'll also be spending on maintenance and some increases in your utility bills.

One way of keeping your air conditioning costs down is to have tune-up and maintenance performed regularly.

It's very important to have tune-up and maintenance done on your central air conditioning system once a year. Among the benefits that you can get from having them performed on your air conditioner regularly is the significant reduction in energy consumption (up to 20% or more).

Be careful, however. Not all tune-ups are the same. The real deal takes around an hour to an hour and a half to perform. If you've had one done in the past which took less than an hour to complete, it's quite certain that your service provided had ripped you off. Don't throw your money in those types of services because you're not getting anything good from it. None at all.

Another thing, even if you have a contract with the utility companies (no matter how cheap or expensive they are), keep in mind that utility companies do not perform tune-up and maintenance. That's because of the simple reason that doing so will bring your utility costs down. And they don't want that.

A proper central air conditioner tune-up has 24 points including inspection, lubrication, calibration, and cleaning. The entire system is completely checked, every aspect of the system and every component of the system is completely checked to make sure it that the air conditioning system is properly operated.

The entire system is also completely cleaned, including the outside unit. Cleaning the outside unit involves taking the lid off and removing all the dirt, debris, and any foreign objects/matters that have found their way inside.

The coil outside is also washed and cleaned during a tune-up. On the inside, the blower compartments is also completely cleaned and vacuumed during a proper tune-up. Just so that you know, having just 1/16 inch of dust accumulating on your central air conditioner's blower wheel can reduce your system's efficiency by 40% or more.

Then, also in the inside, there's also the cooling coil, the drain pan, the duct system, the condensate drain lines, etc. Each of these things/components should be thoroughly cleaned.

The bottom line here is this... if the air conditioning system is not thoroughly cleaned, it will deteriorate rapidly, drastically reducing its efficiency, as well as its lifespan.

So, get your air conditioning system tuned-up once a year and keep the operating costs down.
