Do's and Do Not's For Selection and Installation of Central Air Conditioning

If you make up your mind to have a central air conditioning system for your home or office, it is better you keep a few points in mind. These points can be considered as the "dos and don'ts" for choosing and installing your air conditioning unit.

Dos:

  • Firstly, you should be ready to spend some of your time for doing your research before choosing an air conditioning unit for your home or office. You are going to invest your hard-earned money for buying the unit and so, it is better to consult a good air conditioning professional for making an informed choice. Likewise, the unit should be installed by an experienced professional only. In general, installing central air conditioning systems for large buildings involves a lot of labor and so, only an efficient and experienced contractor will be able to carry out this work competently.

  • You should educate yourself about Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio or SEER because the old systems may cost you heavily in the long run. Energy bills of the old systems will be quite high and that is the reason manufacturers of new air conditioners take into account the latest standards of energy efficiency while producing their units. So, you should choose a unit that comes with excellent SEER ratings.

  • You should specify your budget and needs to the air conditioning professional who will inspect your home or office to determine the capacity of the air conditioning unit needed. It depends not only upon your budget but the size of the building, its orientation, the general weather conditions that prevail in the place you live and so on.

  • It is better you compare the features and costs of at least three brands of air conditioners before choosing the most appropriate one in consultation with your contractor.

Don'ts:

  • The fundamental rule for buying a good air conditioning unit is that you should never be hasty in buying and installing it. You may end up acquiring a unit of larger capacity than needed or an air conditioner of lower capacity that may not fulfill your requirements properly at all. This means that you should do a thorough research before making your choice. If you are not confident of handling the research, you can seek the services of an experienced air conditioning professional.

  • Buying and installing an air conditioner is certainly a big investment. You can not be doing it every now and then. So, you should not fail to anticipate your future requirements and have a central air conditioner accordingly. This does not mean that you should foresee what the size of your family will be after 10 years. It is impossible to make such predictions also. But, you can certainly look ahead and ideally plan for a couple of years or a maximum of three years and get a central air conditioning system appropriately. This rule applies even if you are planning to install a system for your office also.

  • You should not forget the fact that your contractor may have tie-ups with certain manufacturers and hence, he may try to push those products. You need not necessarily buy those products just because you have chosen this contractor. You should do your research meticulously and get the most suitable product installed for your home or office.

  • Nowadays, you get air conditioners with good SEER ratings. You can not afford to ignore this aspect because units with good SEER ratings will get you excellent savings on your energy bills.

  • Similarly, you should not ignore the aspect of providing high quality air to your family members or office staff. So, you should make it a point to choose only highly efficient air conditioners. Otherwise, the health of your family members or your employees will be put to great risks.

If you keep the above points in mind, you can certainly get a good central air conditioning system installed for your home or office.
