Hair Replacement: 10 Top Tips for Hair Replacement Maintenance

1. Once your system is removed, spray some adhesive solvent directly on to the residue area on your head (no water at this stage).

2.While this gets to work in breaking down the residue on your head, you can remove any left over residue from the base of your system. To do this use plain cotton wool. Dab it directly onto the glue and use your thumbs to roll off the residue (this can be tricky especially on lace systems). The residue will stick to the cotton wool and allow you to roll it off.

3. Once the residue has been removed from the base, you can shampoo/conditioner your system.

4. Now wash your head with shampoo a few times, if any residue is stubborn and remains then towel dry your head and then spray some more glue solvent on the area and then repeat the process until it's all been removed. Thoroughly remove the solvent with shampoo when your finished.

5. Then cut your hair. If you are doing this yourself its best to use electric clippers. Once you have decided which grade to use graduate the blend by using either a 3 and 5 or a 5 and 7 grade. never use consecutive number grades like 3 and then 4.

6. Then using an eye liner pencil mark out a dotted line on your head all around the perimeter of your system, Once you are happy with the positioning, double check it. (best to use eye liner cause it wipes off easily after)

7. Triple check the position. (You get the idea) shave any excess fluff hair that grows under your system. This will ensure a nice smooth surface for the adhesive.

8. Apply a thin even layer of adhesive directly onto your SCALP, then wait for it to turn CLEAR AND TACKY.

9. Once its clear and tacky, apply a second layer (thin and even) basically the more layers you build up the longer the bond will last. However, no more than 3 layers though, 2 layers is best.

10. Once the second layer has become clear and tacky. The system is ready to be rolled on. You will need help with this. It's all about getting the front center point on your forehead correct first and then simply slowly roll back your system. If you have marked out the dotted lines accurately, your system should be in the right place...

Remember ask for help when you come to roll the base onto your head. Whoever helps you inform them that you do not need to stretch it tight. They just need to ensure that the base is not creasing or gaining air bubbles etc.

When you come to remove your system again in a few weeks, use a lace release spray to help remove it from your head.

I hope this helps, good luck, take your time and don't panic.
