The Mechanics of Air Conditioning Equipment

The history of conditioners dates back to the summer of 1902, when a printing press hired an electrical engineer named Willis Havilland Carrier to resolve problems in their printing machinery. The printers were getting more moisture because of warm air. The engineer decided to cut down the level of humidity by driving the air inside crossways to chilled pipes. Since that the cool air is unable to carry moisture, the technique worked and the air conditioner was invented.

The concept of conditioners is still the same as conceived in the early years. However, the mechanics of air conditioning equipment come from more scientific advancements and technologies. Evaporation is the quickest technique to cool objects. The idea was practically used by scientists of all eras.

Basically, there are three air conditioning equipment called compressor, evaporator, and condenser. The compressor and condenser are fixed at the outer side and the evaporator in the interiors of the air conditioners.

The basic function of an air conditioner depends on successive heating and cooling of an unstable liquid, for example, Freon. The liquid first enters the compressor and transforms into gas. This procedure helps produce gas and cool liquid. The dissipated heat now extends towards other areas of the air conditioner with the help of a fan.

The liquid enters the condenser to absorb dissipated heat from all parts to convert back into gas. Consequently, the other parts also turn cool. This goes on repeatedly, helping the room turn even cooler.

The air conditioner includes other parts besides compressor, condenser and evaporator. It also has a cooling coil fixed inside to absorb heat, a hot coil to dissipate at the exterior, two fans installed in the exterior as well as interior, and a control circuit to modify temperatures. This is done by modifying the speed of fans using potentiometer.

The most useful and expensive air conditioning equipment is the compressor. Many conditioner companies also offer warranties for compressors. A strong, high-quality compressor is capable of working efficiently for several years.

Compressors can be replaced if they are no more in working condition. They can be easily be installed in the air conditioner. It is much more better to purchase a compressor from the company from which you bought the air conditioner. However, not all conditioner companies manufacture compressors. They purchase compressors from the other companies that manufacture them and install them into the their conditioners.
