Coleman heat pumps are one of the most trusted products when you talk about heating and cooling devices. The quality and the sturdiness of the designs have attracted more consumers as the years progress. It is no wonder then that there are a huge number of homeowners who have been relying on this device to adjust and regulate heat within their houses.

But just like any other device, owners must be reminded always that products such as heat pumps do have their limitations, which will bring about sudden troubles arising from various factors. Because of these instances, it is just necessary for owners to at least have an idea on how one does troubleshoot before they go calling a technician.

Knowing some simple repair procedures would benefit owners a lot since one will be spared from potential fees, which might be unnecessary. So how do you go about it? Here are some of the troubleshooting tips that you can try when unwanted circumstances of breakdown do happen with Coleman heat pumps.

Check the battery of the thermostat - with this brand the problem is commonly arising from troubles in either the electrical systems or within the coil and compressor assembly. And in most cases, simply replacing the battery would actually address the problem. Sometimes, the battery might just be too old and no longer capable of supporting the energy requirement of the unit and so the unit no longer functions. So when you change your battery you can simply conclude that indeed the battery caused the malfunction.

Check if the thermostat is broken or not - since the thermostat plays an important role in the overall functioning of the unit together with the rest of its parts, it would be worth your time to check if the thermostat is broken or not. You can do this by removing the cover of the thermostat which on most brands, snaps easily. Once you observe that the unit runs while you are pushing the override switch, then you have confirmed that the thermostat is indeed damaged. If this is the case, you really have to resort for professional help to resolve this problem.

Are the coils cleaned - coils that are too dirty would not be as effective in performing its function. When this is the case, clean it up to improve its function and overall unit efficiency. You can do this by removing the cover, then cleaning the coil using gloves and a broom or duster. Once cleaned, you would notice a difference in the amount of heat that is transported in or out of your house.

These are some of the basic troubleshooting steps required to care for Coleman heat pumps.
