Fixed and Portable Air Conditioning Units in the Home

When it comes to purchasing domestic air conditioning units for your home there are a number of factors that need to be taken into consideration. Along with the different makes and models you need to decide whether you want a fixed or portable air con unit.

For people whose budget is limited then the most affordable form of air conditioning for the home would be the portable air conditioning. The main advantage to owning this form of domestic air conditioning over others is the ease of use, how flexible they are and of course the cost. Unlike more conventional air conditioning systems this type tends to cost around half the price.

However, if you are considering purchasing a more traditional air conditioning system for your home as mentioned above there are certain factors that you need to take into consideration. Below we take a look at just what these factors are.

Factor 1 - You need to first determine the size of the room into which the system is to be installed. Only when you know the room's size can you then determine what size system you actually need. So the bigger the room the larger the system that you will need to ensure that it works efficiently to remove as much heat from the room as it can.

Factor 2 - Another factor that needs to be taken into consideration before the purchase is what kilowatt rating it comes with. The higher the rating then the greater amount of heat the domestic air conditioning units are able to remove from the room in which situated.

When selecting the rating on your units not only is the room size a factor in your choice but also the number of windows the room has. This will again affect the size of the system you install as the more windows in a room the more heat is being able to enter into it.

Plus don't forget the bigger the room the higher the kilowatt rating the system will need to cool the room efficiently and the more power the system will need to run effectively. This in turn will mean that the system is going to cost more to run.

Factor 3 - Along with checking the kilowatt rating on your system look to see what the EER (energy efficiency rating) on it is. Ideally you want ones that come with the highest EER number as possible as this will ensure that the domestic air conditioning units run more effectively and so the cost of running it will be reduced.

Factor 4 - When considering installing domestic air conditioning units in your home it is worth looking at how your property is insulated. Yes insulation is there to keep your home warm during the winter months but assists with keeping your home cool. By ensuring that you have the correct sort of insulation in your home is helping to keep your home cool by trapping cold air within. This is another thing that will further help to reduce the running costs of your air conditioning system.
